HUTCHINSON — “Building Vibrant and Healthy Communities,” promoted as a virtual forum for anti-hate awareness and action, will be hosted by Southwest Initiative Foundation from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 10.
“Our vision is a southwest Minnesota where all people thrive,” a foundation press release stated. “This can’t be realized while fear and hatred persist. We are alarmed and saddened by the presence of hate groups, and symbols and hateful actions in our communities. We believe education and civil conversation are powerful tools for building more vibrant and welcoming communities.”
Kathleen Belew, an assistant professor of history at the University of Chicago who specializes in the recent history of the United States, examining the long aftermath of warfare, is the keynote speaker.
