Bluejays host MState-FF today

WORTHINGTON -- The 2-5 Minnesota West Bluejays college football team gets a rematch with MState-Fergus Falls today at 1:30 p.m. at Trojan Field.

In their season opener, West was defeated 43-18 at Fergus Falls, but in their final game of the regular season, the Jays can even that score.

Fergus Falls outplayed West in the opener, out-gaining the Bluejays 25-12 in first downs, out-passing them 411 yards to 274, and out-rushing them 69 yards to 35. MState had more than double Minnesota West’s time of possession.

MState quarterback Nate Hayden completed 31 of 42 passes for 397 yards and four touchdowns in the first meeting with West. Last weekend in a 38-28 win over Mesabi Range, he completed 28 of 47 passes for 377 yards and four TDs.

The Bluejays recovered from that loss to play some good football, most specifically upsetting the nationally-ranked Rochester Yellowjackets in Worthington. But after losing their last two games, including a 64-0 decision in Itasca, the Jays are hoping for a win to kick off the post-season.
