Ryan McGaughey arrived in Worthington in April 2001 as sports editor of The Daily Globe, and first joined Forum Communications Co. upon his hiring as a sports reporter at The Dickinson (North Dakota) Press in November 1998. McGaughey became news editor in Worthington in November 2002 and editor in August 2006.

McGaughey grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York and earned a bachelor's degree at what's now known as Binghamton University. He worked for a directory publishing company in New York City for four years as well as at a daily newspaper in Dunkirk, N.Y. before relocating to the Midwest.

In addition to his work at The Globe, McGaughey has been involved in numerous community organizations while residing in Worthington. He is a past president of the Worthington Parks and Recreation Commission and Worthington Noon Kiwanis clubs, as well as a past chairman of the United Way of Nobles County and Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce/Convention & Visitors Bureau boards of directors,
