FARGO — Recently there have been many different lights lighting up the night sky. Sometimes it's the aurora, but many times the aurora can be mistaken for something else - light pillars. Watch the video below to learn more about this winter phenomena.

It is easy to confuse northern light from with other optical phenomena.

All that is required is a subtle rising motion in the air or a subtle cooling of the air at cloud level.
Such a forecast would be nearly impossible because wind over land is much more turbulent than wind over water.
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected.
