PROPOSED ORDINANCE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That the City Council of the City of Worthington, Minnesota is considering the adoption of an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE XV OF THE CITY CODE OF WORTHINGTON, NOBLES COUNTY, MINNESOTA TO ESTABLISH A 'R-8' NEW RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT"
The City Council of the City of Worthington, Do Ordain:
Section I.
To promote the public health, safety, morals, and general welfare of the City, the City's governing body finds that the Worthington City Code, Title XV, Section 155.071 shall be amended include a new subsection (H) that reads:
R-8 One Family, Low Density Preservation District. This district is intended to encourage the remodeling and enhancement of the older residential sections of the community.
Section II.
The Worthington City Code, Title XV, Appendix A: Table 1. Schedule of Density, Area, and Bulk Regulations shall establish the following within the residential zoning districts subsection:

Reference letter K shall be added with the following text: "If the lot width is less than 80 feet, then the property owner shall comply with the 10-foot minimum side yard, or the following minimum side yard: the combined minimum side yard shall be no less than 20% of the lot width. In no event may any side yard have a width of less than 5 feet."
Section III.
The Worthington City Code, Title XV, Appendix E: Table 5 Schedule of Use Regulations shall be amended as to include this new 'R-8' district, which shall permit the same land uses as the existing 'R-1' district.
Section IV.
The Worthington City Code, Title XV, Appendix F: Schedule of Use Regulations - Shoreland Overlay District (SO) shall be amended as to include this new 'R-8' district, which shall permit the same land uses as the existing 'R-1' district.
Section V.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this ordinance in the office of the Recorder in and for the County of Nobles, State of Minnesota
Section VI.
Which proposed ordinance was given its first reading at a Regular Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, August 9, 2021
Said proposed ordinance will again be considered by the City Council at a Regular Meeting to be held at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 23, 2021 in the City Hall Council Chambers, 303 Ninth Street of said City.
