REGULAR BOARD MEETING April 19, 2022 A Tax Abatement Hearing was held at the Worthington High School Band Room, 1211 Clary Street, Worthington, Minnesota on April 19, 2022, at 5:10 p.m. Hearing adjourned at 5:11p.m. A regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 518, Worthington, Minnesota, was held at the Worthington High School Band Room, 1211 Clary Street, Worthington, Minnesota on April 19, 2022, at 5:15 p.m. The following were present: BOARD MEMBERS – Lori Dudley, Brad Shaffer, Steve Schnieder, Joel Lorenz, Mike Harberts, Adam Blume and Tom Prins ADMINISTRATORS – John Landgaard, Superintendent and Dave Skog, Director of Management Services Correspondence and Recognition: The board recognized the following employees/students: The WHS Culinary Class participating in the Culinary Challenge Competition in Marshall- 1st Place in Culinary a team of Cenaida Guzman, Dalen Gonzalez Perez, Perla Chicas Cordova and Christian Tomas. Baking Science-2nd place Jordan Smith. Cake Decorating-1st place Desteny Candelavia Garcie and 2nd place Kacey Vicente Morales. Food Art-1st place Kaylee Pacholl. Knife Skills-1st place Ann Hua. Menu Design-2nd place Yaqueline Tomas Coronado. Place Setting 1st place-Jesenia Lopez Chaves. Congratulated the Dairy and Market teams on making it to the MN FFA State Convention. Dairy Team members-Nakia Evans, Brandon Bosma, Cassidy Madison and Stephanie Dykstra. Market Plan team members- Karissa Bickett, Lilly Mahlberg and Lauren Nelson. The High School speech team competing in the Section 2AA tournament and Oziel Briones got 2nd place in the Humor category and Emma Singler earned 3rd place in the Creative Expression category. Both will compete at state. The 2022 prom received funds from Worthington Federal Savings Bank, Demuth Agency, Mick’s repair, Worthington Tax, American Family Scott Langerud, Mike Woll, Newman Trucking and the Daily Apple. Phileo’s, C&B Equipment, John Deere and Great Life Fitness provided prizes for the 2022 Prom. Avera Medical for hosting the blood donation drive. Steve and Deb Scheidt for the marching band. Approved an employee’s request for sick leave (due to pregnancy) from April 14, 2022, through May 25, 2022, and childcare leave (without pay) from May 26, 2022, through May 27, 2022. Approved an employee’s request for sick leave (due to pregnancy) from August 15, 2022, through September 25, 2022, and childcare leave (without pay) from September 26, 2022, through October 7, 2022. Motion by Member Schnieder, seconded by Member Blume and unanimously passed to authorize the purchase of two vehicles. Motion by Member Blume, seconded by Member Lorenz and unanimously passed to approve the Priority ESSER Funding Plan as presented. The board discussed the Prairie Elementary roof replacement.
