A Tax Abatement Hearing was held at the Worthington High School Media Center, 1211 Clary Street, Worthington, Minnesota on September 21, 2021, at 5:10 p.m. Hearing adjourned at 5:11 p.m.
A regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 518, Worthington, Minnesota, was held at the Worthington High School Media Center, 1211 Clary Street, Worthington, Minnesota on September 21, 2021, at 5:15 p.m.
The following were present: BOARD MEMBERS - Brad Shaffer, Steve Schnieder, Adam Blume, Mike Harberts, Joel Lorenz and Tom Prins

ADMINISTRATORS - John Landgaard, Superintendent, Dave Skog, Director of Management Services
Correspondence and Recognition: The board recognized the following employees/students: None.
A presentation was given by Tessa Dierks and Katie Clarke on NTC Instructional Coaching.
Public Participation: Jacki Bomgaars, Mike Luft spoke regarding the masking requirement in school. Adyiam Kimbrough spoke regarding equality and accessibility.
1.Motion by Member Schnieder, and seconded by Member Harberts and unanimously passed to approve the Consent Agenda for the September 21, 2021, School Board meeting.
2.Motion by Member Schnieder, seconded by Member Harberts and unanimously passed to approve the Main Agenda for the September 21, 2021, School Board meeting.
3.Motion by Member Harberts, seconded by Member Shaffer and unanimously passed to approve the August 17, 2021, Regular School Board meeting minutes.
Motion by Member Harberts, seconded by Member Shaffer and unanimously passed accept the school board committee meeting minutes as received.

5.Motion by Member Shaffer, seconded by Member Harberts to approve resolution approving tax abatement for certain property pursuant to Minn.Stat.469-1813. Motion passed by roll call vote 6 to 0. Resolution is on file at the District Office.
6.Motion by Member Schnieder, seconded by Member Prins and unanimously passed to certify the maximum proposed 2021 levy payable 2022.
7.Motion by Member Blume, seconded by Member Harberts and unanimously passed to approve to set the Truth in Taxation Hearing on December 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Worthington High School Media Center.
8.Motion by Member Shaffer, seconded by Member Prins and unanimously passed to approve first reading of policies 102 Equal Educational Opportunity, 406 Public and Private Personnel Data, 413 Harassment and Violence, 425 Staff Development and Mentoring, 501 School Weapons Policy, 503 Student Attendance and 543 School Meal Policy.
9.Motion by Member Schnieder, seconded by Member Blume and unanimously passed to approve a partnership with the County and City on hiring a daycare consultant and approve a $30,000 fee to help pay for the consultant.
10.Mr. Landgaard indicated that he would be reassigning Cory Van Briesen as Assistant Principal at Prairie Elementary to Assistant Principal at the Intermediate School.
11.The board discussed the Prairie Elementary path/trail commitment.
12.Motion by Member Schnieder, seconded by Member Prins and unanimously passed to approve request to get bids/quotes on Special Education vehicles (2).
13.Motion by Member Shaffer, seconded by Member Blume and unanimously passed to approve utilizing younger student in fall play.
The Board further discussed and reviewed the following matters: Investments and financial status; Superintendent's Report - Mr. Landgaard reported the following: Enrollment update, 2021 tax break comparisons and COVID update. Instructional Committee Report - Mr. Blume reported the following: None. Operations Committee Report - Mr. Schnieder reported the following: Watershed meeting update. Other Reports - None. Other Business - Presentation on ESSER Plan and public input. Future Business - Motion by Member Harberts, seconded by Member Shaffer to support Member Schnieder in running for another term as board member for the Southwest/West Central Service Cooperative Board.
