WORTHINGTON — The "Amazing" Worthington City Band makes its summer debut as part of the annual Memorial Day commemoration at 11 a.m. Monday. The ceremony will take place at Centennial Park and will feature readings highlighting the message and meaning behind the country's Memorial Day.

On Wednesday, June 2, the band will present its first full concert of the regular season, also at Centennial Park. Under the direction of Mike Peterson, city instrumentalists will play two marches (the "Minnesota March" and the "Peacemaker's March") plus "The Magnificent Seven," "Hymn for a Child" and Irving Berlin's "Songs for America," among other selections. Pat O'Neill will serve as emcee, and Myah Holinka will provide intermission entertainment.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to Memorial Auditorium Performing Arts Center.
