Library News: Week of Jan. 31, 2021

The Nobles County Library, 407 12th St., Worthington, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. The Adrian Branch Library, 214 Maine Ave., Adrian, is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 5 p.m. Friday.

Winter Reading Program

The Winter Reading Program continues through March 31 for readers aged 16 and older. Sign up at either library branch (or call if necessary) and get a punch card. Read 12 books, audio books or e-books and return the punch card for a prize. All participants are entered into the grand prize drawing on April 1. To learn more, visit nclibrary.org.

Book Club

All are welcome to join the library’s Book Club discussions. Contact the library if you’d like to participate in the Zoom call. The Feb. 22 meeting will discuss “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennet. The March 29 meeting will discuss “A Gentleman in Moscow” by Amor Towles. Both virtual meetings begin at 7 p.m.

Children’s Programming in Worthington

  • Please visit the library or call 295-5340 to sign up for programs, as class size is limited.

  • Monday: Just Girlz for grades 5-9 meets after school until 4:45 p.m.

  • Tuesday: After-School programming for grades K-5 meets after school until 4:45 p.m.

  • Wednesday: Story Time for Preschool and younger, 10 to 11 a.m.

  • Thursday: After School Program for grades K-5 until 4:45 p.m.

COVID-19 guidelines

  • Please maintain a distance of six feet from non-family members when inside and wear a mask if able.

  • In Worthington, children under 16 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (except during organized activities).

  • Hand sanitizer is available near the front door. Spot cleaning is done throughout the day and after hours.

  • Please bring exact change or the nearest dollar amount for copies, scans, faxes, etc. Large bills cannot be accepted.

New at the Library

Adult Sci.Fi./Fantasy Section in Worthington: The library is adding new easy-to-read labels and reorganizing books by author and series. Also, new books are being purchased to complete series. Come see the numerous trilogies, series and sagas available.

Fun Facts: In 2020, Worthington’s patron with the most checkouts had checked out 1,640 items! Adrian’s patron with the most checkouts came in at 405 items.
