Okoboji Summer Theatre Association cancels summer events

OKOBOJI, Iowa — The Okoboji Summer Theatre Association (OSTA) has canceled all events associated directly with Okoboji Summer Theatre and the students for this summer, due to Stephens College suspending the summer 2020 Okoboji Summer Theatre season.

Cancelled events include the May meeting, the welcome picnic and the grand finale party. The OSTA is looking at an option to still host the annual meeting during the summer with some sort of a party/dinner and inviting the OST Team take part. OSTA members and voucher book purchasers have been contacted directly with options around membership and the voucher books.

The Okoboji Summer Theatre is owned and operated by Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. Stephens made the cancellation decision for the safety of all of their students, patrons, artists, faculty, visitors and friends, due to ongoing public health guidelines related to COVID-19. There were nine shows scheduled for this season, and it's the first time a cancellation has happened since Stephens started operating the theatre in 1958. They are busy planning and look forward to a memorable summer season in 2021.

The OSTA, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, has been promoting and supporting the students and staff of Okoboji Summer Theatre for over 65 years.. For further information on how to join the OSTA or make a monetary donation, contact John Barrow at (612) 845-6963 or ostassociation@gmail.com .
