Patrick Dwayne Buckanaga Jr., 45, of Box 194, Ponsford was sentenced Tuesday in Becker County District Court for felony first-degree criminal damage to property.
A felony domestic assault charge and a felony fifth-degree assault charge were dropped in a plea agreement.
On April 18, Buckanaga got angry with his girlfriend, and when she tried to drive away from the residence, threw a pop bottle and shattered the rear window of her vehicle, showering glass into the interior of the vehicle, including onto a 2-year-old in a car seat in the back seat.
He then took her cell phone away and would not let her leave or take the child, according to court records.
He has prior domestic assault conviction in 1999 and 2006.
On Tuesday, District Judge Joe Evans sentenced him to 15 months in prison, execution of sentence stayed five years. He was placed on supervised probation for five years. He was ordered to serve 60 days in jail, with Sentencing to Service privileges granted. He was given credit for three days served.
He was fined $1,000 plus court fees and ordered to have no contact with the victim that is assaultive, harassing, abusive or threatening. He must complete a domestic violence treatment program.
