RUSHMORE -- Authorities released the name of the juvenile female killed in Wednesday's crash in Rushmore, identifying the victim as 16-year-old Destiny Johnson.

Johnson, who would have been 17 years old next month, was a student at Worthington High School and would have graduated with the class of 2012.

According to Nobles County Sheriff Kent Wilkening, Johnson was a passenger in a rollover crash that occurred at 270th Street and Jones Avenue at approximately 4:47 p.m. Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Wilkening said, but the driver of the vehicle and other passengers were transported to Worthington. The extent of the driver's injuries was unknown, he said, but another passenger was treated for minor cuts and bruises.

"As far as we can tell, the driver lost control of the vehicle," Wilkening said. "We aren't sure why."

The crash is still under investigation. Names of the driver and passenger were not released.
