The Minnesota State Patrol, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Worthington Police Department, Worthington Fire Department and Worthington Ambulance were dispatched to the scene at approximately 11 a.m.

According to David Bullerman of Son-D-Farms, the driver of the tractor received minor injuries, including a banged-up shoulder and a little bump on his head. There was minimal loss of livestock.

“The hogs handled the trip real well,” Bullerman said, adding that he didn’t know how many were on board.

The semi had exited I-90 at Minnesota 60 and entered the roundabout at a slow enough speed, but the trailer, in trying to make the three-quarter turn, ended up hitting the curb. A combination of that, along with high winds and a possible shift in the weight of the hogs on board are believed to have caused the rollover, Bullerman said.

“It went over real slow,” he said. “That’s why I think really, there wasn’t a whole lot (of loss).

“The main thing is nobody got seriously hurt and we can replace the truck.”

Bullerman offered his appreciation to those who responded to the scene, from the firefighters and some JBS employees who helped round up the pigs to the law enforcement personnel that controlled traffic.

Within about two hours of the crash, all of the hogs were loaded up and on their way.

Bullerman said the tractor-trailer was taking the hogs to Heinhold, a hog buying station in Windom. Some of the hogs continued on to Windom, while others were taken to Lynch Livestock, just outside of Worthington.
