WHS music groups in concert Monday

WORTHINGTON — The Worthington High School (WHS) music department’s winter concert begins at 7 p.m. Monday in the WHS gymnasium, 1211 Clary St.

Performing are the WHS Orchestra, the WHS Trojan band, and the WHS Trojan and Concert Choirs. Over 300 student musicians will participate in the concert.

With Melanie Loy conducting, the orchestra will share a Mozart piece, John Williams’ “Theme from Schindler’s List” and “Plink, Plank, Plunk” by Leroy Anderson.

The WHS Trojan Band is set to play the “National Emblem March,” Chris Bernotas’ “And Goodnight” and the “Havener Fanfare,” featuring several trumpeters and percussionists.

Finally, the choirs will sing selections including the Moses Hogan arrangement of “Elijah Rock” and Eric Barnum’s “Dreams of Thee,” directed by guest conductor Alia Robison.

The concert is free and open to the public.
