LAKEFIELD - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has released additional information about Monday night's bus-tractor crash in rural Lakefield.
A transport bus carrying 20 passengers and a farm tractor were involved in the crash, which took place near the intersection of Jackson County 34 and Minnesota 86. According to the sheriff's office, a 1994 Thomas Built bus owned by Parks Marina of Okoboji, Iowa and operated by Donald Olsen, 72, of Milford, Iowa collided with an International 1086 tractor operated by Doug Hanson, 63, of rural Lakefield. The bus was traveling eastbound on Jackson County 34, and tractor was facing east but going in reverse and blowing snow from the roadway when they collided, the sheriff's office reported Wednesday morning.
Three bus passengers were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. They were identified as Jordan Schau, 24, of Spencer, Iowa; Steven Koop, 24, of Estherville, Iowa; and Angela Bodie, 35, of Estherville. Hanson, the tractor's driver, was also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
