PIPESTONE - Pipestone National Monument is hosting a night sky event at 8:30 p.m. April 27 on the grassy area in front of the visitor center.
Augustana University’s Dr. Nathan Grau will bring his enthusiasm for the night sky and give a short explanation of what will be seen. He will also set up two tracking telescopes. Visitors will be allowed to look through the telescope, ask questions and view the cosmos up close.
The event runs until 10 p.m. so that everyone has a chance to look through the telescopes, but visitors are not required to stay for the duration. Feel free to bring lawn chairs. There will also be free hot cider and snacks while supplies last.
In the event of rain or inclement weather, the date will be rescheduled for May 4. The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Pipestone National Monument at (507) 825-5464.
