WORTHINGTON - Last month’s incessant rain showers brought construction on some projects to a screeching halt, but since the sun came out, crews are back to work on both the splash pad and the Beach Nook building projects in Worthington’s Centennial Park.
Worthington Director of Public Works Todd Wietzema explained that necessary equipment is currently being installed at the splash pad. Construction workers still need to pour concrete as well as add a few other touches.
Although the anticipated opening for the splash pad had originally been Memorial Day, it now looks like late June.
“We are still shooting for before the Fourth of July,” Wietzema said.
At the Beach Nook, the footing for the new building has been dug and is scheduled to be poured over the weekend.
Wietzema said the contractor is planning to be finished in time for a late summer opening.
