76th Mountain Lake Pow Wow kicks off today

MOUNTAIN LAKE --A year after the Mountain Lake Pow Wow celebrated its 75th anniversary, the festival is still going strong, with more units than usual -- 125 -- set to participate in Monday night's parade.

"We typically have between three and four thousand people in town watching the parade," explained Rob Anderson, the city's community development director.

He also highlighted the finale raffle drawing in which $4,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

"The tradition with powwow is people will come in and the Mountain Lake area people put it on their calendars," he said. "There's lots of good food and something for everyone."

The event kicks off at 7 p.m. today with the Miss Mountain Lake Pageant at the Mountain Lake High School Auditorium. Here's a look at some of the other events planned:
