Wrong way driver may have contributed to car vs. home crash Friday afternoon in Worthington
WORTHINGTON — A vehicle that appeared to be driving the wrong way in traffic at one of Worthington’s busiest intersections ended up crashing into a residence at 1219 Humiston Ave., Friday afternoon, just south of Burger King, according to Worthington Police Sgt. Brett Wiltrout.
The investigation remained ongoing Friday afternoon.
First responders were paged to the scene at 1:47 p.m. Two ambulances were also paged and one individual was transported to Sanford Worthington, Wiltrout said. The age and gender of the individual were not immediately disclosed.
Wiltrout said the home was occupied at the time of the crash, but no one was injured. At the scene, it appeared the vehicle crashed into a shrub on the northeast corner of the house.
Wiltrout said the crash occurred at the traffic light on Oxford Street and Humiston Avenue. The vehicle that crashed into the home appeared to be traveling south in the northbound lane, he noted.
Given the heavy traffic area of the crash scene, Wiltrout said the main focus after checking on the individuals and the investigation was clearing the scene.
