SLAYTON — A 22-year-old Adrian man died following a Saturday night collision between two boats on North Lake Shetek.
According to a press release received Monday morning from the Murray County Sheriff's Office, Murray County dispatch received numerous reports of the collision at 8:09 p.m. Saturday. The collision occurred between a 2000 Tige boat operated by Matthew Slater and a 2018 Tracker boat operated by Brian Bergling.
The Tige boat had 11 total occupants on board at the time of the crash, while Bergling was the only occupant on the Tracker boat. Two individuals on the Tige boat were taken to area hospitals and their conditions were unavailable, the press release stated.
Logan Nelson, an occupant of the Tige boat, was thrown from the vessel, the press release added. The Murray County Sheriff's Office, assisting agencies and numerous civilians aided in the search for Nelson late into the night. The search was eventually discontinued for the evening due to darkness and wind.
At first light Sunday, the search and recovery effort resumed, and at approximately 11:38 a.m. Nelson's deceased body was recovered following an extensive search of the crash scene.

The Murray County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the following agencies: Tracy Ambulance, Lake Shetek First Responders, Currie Fire Department, North Memorial Air Care, Tracy Fire Department, Walnut Grove Fire Department, Slayton Fire Department, Lyon County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, LeClaires from Currie and the Codington County Water Rescue Water (Watertown, S.D.).
No further information was available, as the Murray County Sheriff's Office noted that the accident is still under investigation..
