WORTHINGTON — The Worthington Fire Department was dispatched Tuesday afternoon to a blaze on an acreage in the 30000 block of 270th Street, a mile west of Worthington, during extremely windy conditions.

Fire Chief Jason Larsen said one building had completely collapsed and another deteriorated building was on fire by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. Fire had also started in one corner of a machine shed on the property.

“We were able to knock that down pretty quick,” Larsen said, adding that the contents of the machine shed were safe.

Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 2:30 p.m., and were still on the scene two hours later to ensure a blaze didn't reignite.

The cause of the fire, located on property owned by Martha Naab, was undetermined.
