Arnolds Park man dies in two-vehicle accident

ALLENDORF, Iowa -- An accident Friday morning resulted in the death of an Arnolds Park, Iowa, man. Scott Douglas Baumgard, 33, of Arnolds Park, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred at 9:53 a.m. Friday at Iowa 9 and U.S. 59.

ALLENDORF, Iowa -- An accident Friday morning resulted in the death of an Arnolds Park, Iowa, man.

Scott Douglas Baumgard, 33, of Arnolds Park, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred at 9:53 a.m. Friday at Iowa 9 and U.S. 59.

Baumgard was driving a 2008 Ford F350 pickup truck westbound on Iowa 9. Kevin D. Lankford, 38, of Macomb, Ill., was driving a 2010 International semitrailer rig northbound on U.S. 59.

According to information released by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, Lankford failed to yield from a stop sign and pulled into the path of the Baumgard vehicle, which struck the trailer of Lankford's vehicle.

The Osceola County Sheriff was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa State Patrol, Ocheyedan Fire Department, Sibley Fire Department and the Sibley Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation.
