Mathew Allen Boswell, 24, of 200 West Union St., Detroit lakes has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony first-degree DWI, test refusal, felony first-degree DWI, gross misdemeanor driving after his license was canceled, and misdemeanor fleeing a peace officer on foot.
According to court records: At about 2 a.m. on Oct. 25, police officers were called to his residence on the report of a possible domestic disturbance. A police officer heard arguing, heard a vehicle door slam and allegedly saw Boswell squeal away in an F-150 Ford pickup truck.
The truck allegedly failed to stop for a stop sign on Washington Avenue and went through it at speeds of about 40 mph.
When the officer activated his overhead lights to pull the truck over, it stopped momentarily and then took off. A Detroit Lakes K-9 officer then caught up to the pickup truck, and the officer allegedly saw him jump out and take off running unsteadily.
He allegedly ignored several warnings that the dog would be released if he did not give up, and eventually was captured with the help of the dog.
