Bail set for three men charged in Iowa murder

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa -- The three men charged with the first-degree murder of a Sioux Falls, S.D. man made initial appearances Tuesday in Dickinson County District Court.

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa -- The three men charged with the first-degree murder of a Sioux Falls, S.D. man made initial appearances Tuesday in Dickinson County District Court.

John Allen Swan, 30, and Scott Thomas Adair, 29, both of Crossett, Ark., and Michael James Friedrichs, 29, of Forest City, Iowa, are each being held on a $750,000 bond.

Each is accused of willfully, deliberately and with premeditation killing 25-year-old Matthew Thomas Begtrup with malice and forethought. The incident took place at approximately 2 a.m. Friday outside of a business in Milford, Iowa, called Zippers Gentleman's Club.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office was not releasing any other information Tuesday. Each of the three men is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 4 p.m. April 18 at the Dickinson County Courthouse.
