BIGELOW -- The 12th annual Swampy Days are being celebrated this weekend in Bigelow.

A volleyball tournament is slated to begin at 8 a.m. today, with spots still open for teams, according to organizer Connie Reitmeier. Games in the park for "kids of all ages" will include ladder golf and a bean bag toss tournament.

"You can sign up in the park to play in the team competition," said Reitmeier. "We're having inflatables for kids at no charge, a food stand and a truck pull at 2 p.m."

A dance featuring the music of Sideline will get under way at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Bigelow just completed an addition to the park shelter house, which will be put to good use during the celebration, rain or shine.

"We just got that done this near, so it's nice and new, with two brand-new doors, and we redid the bathrooms in the park," Reitmeier said. "In case we do get a million dollar rain, although it's probably too late for most of the farmers, we'll have someplace to go.

"We're just real proud of our little town," she added.
