The Worthington Trojans girls basketball team turned in one of its better defensive performances of the season, forcing 35 turnovers -- 25 in the first half -- to help pick up a 69-52 victory Tuesday.

"Our defense started right away," WHS head coach Eric Lindner said. "We got some turnovers and some quality baskets. We did a good job entering the ball to Maria (Boever) when she was in good position."

That ability to enter the ball to Boever paid big dividends against JCC's defense, leading to 39 points, 11 rebounds (eight offensive), and eight steals.

Rachel Springman continued her solid play of late, scoring eight points, tied with Ashley Aggen for second on the night.

"Springman has picked up her intensity the last three games," Lindner said. "She's putting her game together."
