WORTHINGTON -- An 80-year-old rural Brewster man died Tuesday while working with soybeans stored in a grain bin.

James Haberman was alone when he fell or collapsed into a bin filled about three feet deep with beans. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and Nobles County Chief Deputy Chris Heinrichs said a coroner will make that determination.

Haberman was working with someone, but that person had left to pick up or deliver a load of beans. Upon return, Haberman was discovered.

Brewster Rescue and the Worthington Ambulance were dispatched to the scene on Minnesota 264 at 11:25 a.m. but, according to Heinrichs, Haberman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It might have been suffocation, it might have been a heart attack," Heinrichs said Wednesday. "We just don't know yet."
