ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa -- Preston Lee Van Veldhuizen, 19, of Doon, Iowa, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage and failure to obey a stop sign following a hit-and-run collision Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 75 and 260th Street.

The other vehicle in the collision, a 2002 Hyundai Sonata, was driven by Patricia Jager, 39, of Hull, Iowa. Jager was driving north on U.S. 75 when Van Veldhuizen's vehicle allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with Jager's vehicle, then left the scene, continuing east on A52.

Jager and her 6-month-old infant passenger were checked by the George, Iowa, Rescue Squad, but no injuries were reported. Jager's vehicle sustained approximately $1,800 in damage.
