LUVERNE -- Upcoming events at Blue Mounds State Park include the "Prairie Rodents: Construction Workers of the Prairie" starting at 7 p.m. Friday in the Interpretive Center. Participants will discover the many rodent species at the park and witness how they build super highways through the grassy areas and how they improve the quality of our prairie land. A "History Hike" will also take place at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Hike through one and a half miles of Sioux Quartzite quarry and learn about the history of Blue Mounds.
Outdoor Adventures will get under way starting at 1 p.m. July 26. Activities will include outdoor cooking, aquatic insects, birding, geocaching, fishing, arts and crafts. Meet at the beach area.
On July 27 "Blue Mounds Bison" will begin at 11 a.m. in the Interpretive Center. Learn about the beautiful giants that once roamed the native prairie land at Blue Mounds State Park.
Vehicle permits are required to enter the park.
