WINDOM -- The City of Windom has received the results of a survey soliciting feedback about the Island Park dam. The results were unveiled in a stakeholders meeting Tuesday.
The survey asked users whether they would prefer to keep the dam, replace the dam with rock riffles or remove the dam. Each optioned garnered about 33 percent support.
The majority of the 96 respondents, 43 percent, said any project should cost less than $250,000.
The survey also asked questions about how residents used the dam, which is located on the Des Moines River and was damaged more than a year ago.
Results will be used to help the stakeholders trim the list of eight dam options down to four. Those four will be subject to a feasibility study, the results of which could be revealed as soon as November.
