LUVERNE -- The Luverne Area Chamber of Commerce invites the public to join its local businesses for the 46th Hot Dog Nite July 10. The customer appreciation event will include local Chamber members giving away more than 10,000 hot dogs and 300 gallons of beverages.
New this year, a wiener dog beauty contest will kick off the wiener dog events at 7 p.m., as judges choose the best looking male and female dachshund.
The fifth annual wiener dog races will follow, with dachshunds racing the course for first place in this "fastest dog" competition.
Papik Motors will host a hot dog eating contest, while the Episcopal Church will host a pie social with a patriotic musical concert featuring Emily Lodine and Marya Manfred.
Additional entertainment includes a performance by the Spotlight Dancers, Tae Kwon Do demonstrations, Smedsrud's mini train rides and a community nite-out celebration featuring promotions from the Rock County Sheriff's Department.
