WORTHINGTON -- A group of volunteer "jailbirds" raised more than $11,000 for March of Dimes earlier this month in Worthington.
Jailbirds served their time behind bars Aug. 6 at the Pizza Ranch. The money they raised from pledges by family, friends and co-workers, as well as online, benefits the March of Dimes mission to help every baby have a healthy start.
The top fundraiser, or top jailbird, was Maria Thier, owner of Lit'l Wizards in Worthington. Other top jailbirds were: Lisa Ahrenstorff, District 518; Jane Sazama, Echo; Melissa VanRuler, Smith Trucking; Alissa Eggestein, Smith Trucking; and Leah McDonald, Walgreens.
