WORTHINGTON -- Major construction on Minnesota 60, which will result in a new, four-lane divided highway around the east side of Bigelow, is scheduled to begin Friday.
Traffic on Minnesota 60 will be detoured at the Y intersection southwest of Worthington, with vehicles using U.S. 59 south to Iowa 9, then routed west to the Iowa 60 four-lane.
Nobles County 2/52 (the state line road) will be open for local traffic only into Bigelow throughout the 2008 construction season. However, that road will experience short-term daytime closures while grading and paving work progresses.
The present detour for travelers on Nobles County 2/52 will remain in place during the 2008 construction season.
