LAMBERTON -- Soil management and the establishment of forages on the farm will be discussed in a workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center in Lamberton.
The workshop will feature presentations on soil science basics, management of a soil's biological community, organic matter management and how to deal with compaction. Field and laboratory demonstrations on identifying and managing risks when establishing forages, forage legume identification and choosing forage plants for organic livestock production will also be presented. There will be a lunchtime discussion on the management of veterinary health on organic farms.
