PIPESTONE -- The Pipestone County Master Gardeners is sponsoring the workshop, "Trees for the Great Southwest Minnesota" at 7 p.m. April 8 at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Pipestone campus, room 127A. The program is offered free of charge.
The workshop will be presented by John Ball, professor of forestry at South Dakota State University. Ball teaches courses in landscape maintenance and woody plant identification and serves as the Extension forestry specialist and campus arborist. He will speak about trees that do well in our part of the state but are little known and ones that would be good replacements for ash, a tree experts discourage planting because of the threat of the emerald ash borer. Ample time will be available for questions and answers.
