WORTHINGTON - A Public Land Appreciation is planned at the Sweetie Marie Rall Memorial Tract of the Lambert Prairie State Wildlife Management Area from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
The 80-acre parcel is located one-fourth mile west of the intersection of 270th Street and McCall Avenue, west of Worthington. Purchased by Nobles County Pheasants Forever and now managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, a portion of the property was seeded to nearly 100 species of wildflowers.
The parcel was dedicated to Rall, who had a love of the outdoors. She died Sept. 17, 2015, after a battle with cancer.
There is no charge to attend. Meat and cheese trays will be provided, along with beverages from Take 16 Brewing Company and Round Lake Vineyards. All proceeds from the event will stay in the community to benefit Pheasants Forever and Hospice Cottage, Inc.
