OCHEYEDAN, Iowa - The Community Foundation of Osceola County (CFOC) presented 31 grants totaling $94,920.23 to non-profit groups in Osceola County Thursday evening during its 12th anniversary celebration.
The following projects each received $3,500 grants:
Osceola County Pheasants Forever: to purchase prescribed fire burn skids and personal protective gear and clothing to maintain CRP and natural areas in Osceola County.
Ocheyedan Senior Activity Center: for new countertops and a 3-bowl sink for Ocheyedan Sr. Citizen Activity Center kitchen.
Osceola Community Health Services: for a Lifeline equipment upgrade. Year 2 of a three-year plan to replace 90 Lifeline units in the county.
Sibley Public Library: for furnishings updates including a sensory learning wall and furniture in youth area of the library.
McCallum Museum/Brunson Heritage House: To purchase and install a new high efficiency furnace/air conditioning units for museum.
Melvin American Legion: for roof repair on the Melvin Legion community building.
Sibley Parks Department: to replace two water fountains in Sibley’s Central Park.
Osceola County Conservation Board: to purchase and install two interpretive signs, a flagpole and new sign at Ocheyedan Mound.
Hawkeye Point Foundation: to install water and both 30- and 50-amp electrical service to campsites at Hawkeye Point Campground.
Sibley VFW: to purchase and install a high-efficiency furnace for Sibley VFW building.
Osceola Communities Express: to expand Osceola Communities Express service to other parts of Osceola County.
Osceola County Livestock Show: for phase 3 of a three-year project to refurbish the schoolhouse on the fairgrounds. Replace windows.
Tracy House Museum: to pour a concrete sidewalk to the house and ag building; window replacement; replace glass in display case.
Ocheyedan Indians 4-H Club: to purchase and install historic banners for Ocheyedan’s Main Street.
Ashton Fire Department: to update water entry design and install a water meter for Ashton Fire Dept.
Osceola County Freedom Rock: to have the Osceola County Freedom Rock painted by Bubba Sorensen.
Ashton American Legion Auxiliary: to provide landscaping materials for Osceola County Freedom Rock in Ashton.
S-O FFA Chapter: Purchase and erect a 24- by 40-foot greenhouse to assist with classes and student instruction.
Ashton Ambulance Crew: to update light fixtures in ambulance garage and replace outdoor light with LED lighting.
Osceola County Sheriff’s Office: to purchase two Watch Guard integrated body/dash camera systems for officer use.
Ocheyedan Economic Development: to remodel and move restrooms to one location and make them handicap accessible in Ocheyedan City Hall.
Other awards
Ocheyedan Catfish Club: $3,390 to purchase a defibrillator for Ocheyedan ballfield and town hall.
S-O Band Boosters: $3,000 to purchase a portable wireless sound system for the S-O Marching Generals.
Melvin Public Library: $2,920.16 to purchase a movie screen/runner mat/window shades/outdoor sign.
Melvin Area Economic Development Corp.: $2,300 to purchase six pole-mounted snowflake Christmas lights for Melvin’s Main Street.
Sibley Betterment Association: $2,156 to purchase first aid station, refrigerator and dryer for the swimming pool bathhouse.
Sibley Recreation Department: $1,750 to purchase an LED community event sign in cooperation with S-O Athletic Boosters.
S-O Athletic Booster Club: $1,750 for community event digital sign computer, software, electricity and installation.
Bright Beginnings of Osceola County: $1,702 to purchase telephones and shade canopy for play area, art supplies, raised garden bed, plants, seeds and fertilizer for students.
Sibley Municipal Swimming Pool: $1,344 to purchase and install a PA speaker system for the swimming pool.
Sibley Chamber of Commerce: $1,107.23 to connect Osceola County and area businesses with user-friendly web presence.
