WORTHINGTON — Following a traffic stop, the Nobles County Sheriff's Office arrested William John Hall Jr., 38, of Eagan on Friday on charges of drug possession and sale.

A Nobles County deputy stopped Hall for speeding Friday night and noticed Hall appeared "excessively nervous" for a speeding violation, the criminal complaint noted. A female passenger told the officer the car was a rental, but could not provide any rental paperwork.

The officer's K-9 unit detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Upon search, the officer discovered a duffel bag containing two vacuum-sealed packages, five unused hypodermic needles and a tourniquet rubber band. The packages were determined to contain cocaine and methamphetamine, and weighed greater than 50 grams combined.

Both the passenger and Hall told law enforcement that the passenger did not know about the drugs.

Hall was charged with first-degree drug possession and first-degree drug sale. Both charges come with maximum sentences of 30 years in prison and/or a $1 million fine.
