MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- A memorial honoring Mendota Heights police officer Scott Patrick, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop, will be unveiled at 12:20 p.m. July 30 - the exact time and date of his death four years ago.

The $11,000 monument will be at Market Square Park in Mendota Heights, a south suburban Twin Cities community.

The officer’s widow, Michelle Patrick, had wanted the memorial at the site of her husband’s death, at Smith Avenue and Dodd Road in West St. Paul; the city approved that site in May, but only as a temporary location. The city plans redevelopment of that land, so the memorial eventually would have been removed, West St. Paul City Manager Ryan Schroeder said.

Brian Fitch Sr., a drug dealer with outstanding warrants, was convicted of murdering Scott Patrick and was sentenced to life in prison.
