Court appearances scheduled for two arrested in alleged MN homicide
WILLMAR – Two people were arrested Monday afternoon, Nov. 5, on suspicion of second-degree murder and second-degree murder -- liability for crimes of another, for the death of David Medellin Jr. who was found dead Oct. 31 in a plowed field near Willmar.
County Attorney Shane Baker said in an email Tuesday that the suspects’ court appearance had not been scheduled yet, but it would be either Wednesday morning or Thursday morning.
Little additional information about the suspects or Medellin’s death will be available until after their court appearances.
The Kandiyohi County Jail custody list shows a 35-year-old man was booked Monday and is being held for second-degree murder. His name and age match a public record for a man who listed a Kerkhoven address as of 2017.
The Renville County Jail custody list shows a woman is being boarded there for second-degree murder and liability for crimes of another. She was originally booked Monday in Anoka County and was being held in Renville County as of Tuesday. Her name matches a public record filed last month for a 51-year-old woman who listed a Brooten address.
Medellin’s fiancee Felicia Rodriguez said she had last heard from him the afternoon of Oct. 24, when he texted her while returning from a job orientation at a dairy farm. They had planned to meet, and he texted, “OK Babe. I’ll be there.”
But he never came home, and her repeated calls and texts were never answered. Medellin’s body was found a week later.
Rodriguez said she and Medellin are expecting a baby boy in March.
Anyone who had contact with Medellin on or after Oct. 24 is asked to contact the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office at 320-235-1260.
