ADRIAN — A Wednesday evening drunken driving incident that resulted in serious injuries to a motorcyclist has a North Dakota man facing charges.
According to court records, Albert Castillo, 39, of Mandan, N.D. was driving behind Brandon M. Corr on Minnesota 91 north of Adrian when he rear-ended Corr's bike. The collision forced Corr off his bike, and he landed on the hood of Castillo's pickup. Corr sustained road rash and a broken back.
Castillo told law enforcement that he and Corr had decided to leave a bar in Adrian to go do a "burn out" with Corr's motorcycle. Castillo reported that as they were driving, a deer ran across the road in front of Corr, so he slowed down. Castillo said he didn't see Corr's brake lights because the bike's red cover was missing.
Castillo took Corr in his pickup after the crash to the Adrian Campground, where he eventually called 911.
The deputy reports detecting an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from both men. Castillo provided a preliminary breath test on scene, which resulted in a blood alcohol concentration of 0.147.
Castillo has been charged with two counts of criminal vehicular operation, gross misdemeanors; and two counts of driving while intoxicated, misdemeanor.
His bail was scheduled at 10% of $1,500 with conditions or $12,000 without.
