WORTHINGTON — A Montana man will spend more than five years in prison following his conviction for unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition and first-degree drug sale.

Consistent with a plea agreement, Walter O. Grant, 30, of Wolf Point, Mont. was sentenced to 65 months in prison Wednesday in Nobles County District Court. He may receive good time credit, and be allowed to serve the remaining one-third of his sentence on supervised release.

He was awarded 333 days for time spent in the Nobles County Jail, where he's been since the October 2018 search of his vehicle. A stolen firearm, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale and more than $1,000 were reportedly recovered from the vehicle, which also carried an 18, 17 and 11 year old.

Grant was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previously being convicted or adjudicated for a crime of violence.
