WORTHINGTON — Larry Davis, 70, of Worthington was arrested Jan. 9 for one count of soliciting prostitution in a public place, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

Davis reportedly began communicating Jan. 3 on social media with an undercover peace officer posing as an adult male. Their communication was sexual in nature, the complaint detailed, saying that Davis asked the officer, "You ever hook up with older for cash?"

The complaint alleges that Davis "said that he was married so the (officer) would need to keep it a secret." He offered to pay $50 in exchange for a sexual act.

Davis and the officer met outside the Nobles County Library in Worthington Jan. 9. The officer asked Davis, "Are we going to do this?" and Davis allegedly nodded and said "yes." At this point, Davis was arrested.

Davis declined to speak with investigators. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Feb. 11. If convicted of the gross misdemeanor, Davis faces a maximum $1,500 fine.
