WORTHINGTON — A Worthington resident is making his way through the judicial process after being accused of assault in late July.

On July 20, a child called 9-1-1 to report that the child and an adult household member had been assaulted by Jesse Matias, 29, of Worthington. Matias had allegedly banged the adult's head against the wall eight times, and held the child up by their legs and dropped them on their head.

The assault reportedly resulted in a bump on each victim's head, and bruises on the adult's arms and legs.

Police were unable to locate Matias at the time of the report, but later arrested him on a warrant Aug. 3 on two counts of felony domestic assault. Each carries a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

Matias posted $10,000 of conditional bail and was released the same day. He appeared in court Monday as part of the court proceedings.
