WORTHINGTON — Steven Madison, a patient at Sanford Worthington Medical Center, was charged with felony-level assault after an alleged altercation involving two hospital employees.

On Nov. 6, an officer with the Worthington Police Department responded to a report of an aggressive patient at the hospital. Upon arrival, the officer observed city officers attempting to calm Madison down before placing him in restraints at the request of hospital staff.

According to the police report, the officer spoke to two victims, both hospital workers, who stated Madison became upset while watching television and threw a cup of water at one victim. While the two employees attempted to remove anything in the room that could be thrown, Madison reportedly grabbed a victim by the hair, shook her, and stuck her on the cheek and neck. The officer observed red marks on these areas.

Madison faces a maximum of 2 years in jail if convicted on the felony assault charge, and/or a $4,000 fine.
