SIBLEY, Iowa - The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two-vehicle crash reported at 6:37 p.m. Friday from the intersection of Iowa 9 and Osceola County L40/Pierce Avenue. A 1998 Buick Park Avenue operated by Elizabeth Kathryn Stallcup, 17, of Spencer, Iowa, and registered to Eugene and Merilyce VerSteeg, Sibley, was traveling northbound, failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by a 2002 International semi operated by Jacob Steven Stamp, 24, of Linn, Mo., and registered to Herman Mebruer, Linn. Both Stallcup and her passenger, Jacob VerSteeg, were taken to Osceola Community Hospital with serious injuries. Both vehicles were a total loss. Assisting at the scene were the Sibley Ambulance, Sibley Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol.

SIBLEY, Iowa - The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested Byron Niz Chavez, 23, of Sibley on Saturday for allegedly operating while intoxicated first offense. He was also cited for driving while license under suspension. Niz Chavez was booked into the Osceola County Jail and is being held on a $1,000 bond.
