SIBLEY, Iowa -- The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated a crash Thursday at the intersection of Osceola County A34 and U.S. 59. A 2014 Ford Escape operated by Kathleen Ann Soukop, 17, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., was traveling westbound on Osceola County A34 and stopped for the stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 59. James Leo Heffron, 43, of Dallas, Iowa, was operating a 2014 Ford F150 southbound on U.S. 59. Soukop, thinking Heffron also had to stop, pulled out in front of him, causing the F150 to strike the Escape broadside in the rear. After those vehicles collided, the F150 lost control and stuck a John Deere 6155M tractor owned by the Osceola County Roads Department and operated by Luke Halverson, 24, of Ashton, Iowa, that was stopped on the road. The Escape sustained $7,000 in damages, and the F150 had $20,000 in damages. The tractor did not receive any damage. No injuries were reported..
