ASHTON, Iowa - The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated a crash reported at 2:10 p.m. Friday from Iowa 60 near 230th Street. A pickup truck operated by Nathan Dekam, 19, of George, Iowa, was traveling westbound on 230th Street attempting to cross Iowa 60, and a semi truck operated by Erwin Wynia, 65, of Sheldon, Iowa, was traveling northbound on Iowa 60. The semi and pickup collided at the intersection, causing both vehicles to lose control and overturn in the median. Dekam was transported to Osceola Community Hospital by the Osceola County Ambulance, and was treated for his injuries and released. Wynia was transported to Sanford Medical Center, Sheldon, where he was treated for his injuries and discharged. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $17,000; damage to the semi was estimated at $100,000.

HARRIS, Iowa - The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anthony E. Erwin, 25, of Estherville, Iowa, following a Friday traffic stop for allegedly possessing a controlled substance-marijuana and allegedly operating while intoxicated (drugged) - first offense. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 bond.
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jose Solis, 34, of Rock Rapids, on Friday following a traffic stop for speeding for driving with a barred license for being a habitual offender. He was additionally charged with four counts of driving while suspended and possession of a controlled substance.
