Crashes
Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: one-vehicle crash, 8:11 a.m. Saturday, 4200 block of Lyon County A-34. A 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 delivery van operated by Tanner L. Cole, 25, of Omaha, Neb. was traveling eastbound when Cole fell asleep at the wheel. The van then entered the north ditch, struck a culvert and went airborne for approximately 54 feet before coming to rest in a cornfield. Cole was uninjured; he was cited for failure to maintain control. George, Iowa Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: single-vehicle crash, 8:20 p.m. Saturday, 2300 block of Jefferson Avenue, southwest of George, Iowa. Driver Brianna Modder of George lost control of her vehicle, entered the east ditch and rolled at least once. Modder was not wearing her seat belt at the time and sustained minor injuries; she was cited for failure to maintain control. George Fire and Rescue and the Lyon County Ambulance assisted at the scene.
