A high-speed chase in Alexandria during Tuesday's winter storm resulted in an arrest - and fortunately, no injuries.
The incident started at about 3:20 p.m. after an Alexandria police officer tried to pull over a vehicle on 50th Avenue near State Highway 29 for "careless driving and a grossly negligent speeding violation," according to the Alexandria Police Department.
Alexandria was under a severe winter storm warning at the time with blowing and drifting snow making travel hazardous.
The driver failed to stop when the officer initiated the traffic stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.
The chase continued on State Highway 27 West and into the surrounding area, reaching maximum speeds of 70 miles per hour.

It ended when the vehicle was stopped and the driver, Tyrell Robert Runia, 21, of Alexandria, was taken into custody on County Road 82 by Evansville.
The pursuit ended without injury or damage to property, according to authorities.
Assisting the Alexandria Police Department with the pursuit was the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
Runia was arrested on charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving after revocation, speeding, unsafe passing, and failing to stop for a semaphore.
The vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet extended cab pickup, is being held subject to forfeiture.
